László Mihályi pastry chef

László Mihályi has acquired the basis of his profession in Vác. After finishing confectionery school, he started his career in the confectionery of Hotel Forum in 1987. He worked here for ten years, and after passing the master examination, ea became a Master Pastryman.

Just like professional chefs, a Master Pastryman can never be satesfied with the knowledge he has acquired at school. The profession and the technologies are developing continuously and one has to keep pace with the changing trends.

During the 90s, László Mihályi worked on river ships and liners and visited a great number of countries, including Lebanon, Norway, Austria, Italy, Switzerland and Morocco. He experienced many gastronomic impressions. Not only did he get to know the typical foods of different cultures, but also worked with ingredients that have not been known by Hungarian confectioners. Beside using exotic raw materials, Mihályi has acquired techologies and philosophies that define his representative, unique style.

László Mihályi returned home in November, 2004. First, he worked as an assistant pastry chef in Hotel Four Seasons Gresham Budapest, then he became pastry chef in Sofitel. Mihályi never stops learning. He regularly attends courses of foreign countries, e.g. the world-famous Lénotre School of Paris where he studies different specialities like the sugar or the chocolate.

With the opening of Desszert Szalon in Vác, an old wish has been fulfilled: he now owns a small confectionery where he can make his pastry-dreams come true.
